An aperitif native to Western France, here Pineau de Charentes is made with a blend of Ugni Blanc (you might know it as Trebbiano) grape must and Fins Bois Cognac. Light and tangy after a year in old red barrels, and then four to follow in inert vats before bottling, it’s a versatile addition to the bar cart. Sip it over ice and hone in on its stone fruit goodness, or dash a little into Champagne for a chic pre-dinner drink.
