Everyone's chasing Georgia's flamboyant amber orange wines right now — month of skin contact, deep amber hue, the whole Instagram bait. This one skips the theatre without sacrificing flavour.
Baia Abuladze runs this with sister Gvantsa (biodynamics training in Germany's Mosel, an agronomy masters after) and brother Giorgi (enology-trained) — a winery built from scratch in 2015, not inherited, not romanticised.
Tsitska spends a month on skins in qvevri (buried clay vessels doing the work oak does elsewhere) before racking off clean. Vines grow at 324 metres on alluvial clay, gravel and limestone — soil that keeps things taut and generous. Citrus, orchard fruit, a mineral, almost salty finish. Minimal grip, minimal ceremony, maximum precision.
Orange wine's quiet cousin.
