Adrian turns to fellow Beechworthian vigneron, Mark Walpole, for his Tempranillo which is planted up on the edge of the escarpment around 580 metres above sea level in deep, shaley, mudstone soils. It’s a ripper. Plummy, cherry and red-curranty as it should be, with abundant spice, violet high-tones and cut with those classic ‘cola’ characters we associate with the variety, trailing off slowly with a pure fruit flourish and a fine, spicy/herby tail.v
