Chardonnay’s not one to sit still, and Chris Catlow isn't interested in pinning it down—or any variety for that matter. Working out of Beechworth under the Sentio banner since 2013, he plays with a range of varieties and their many moods—pulling fruit from across some of Victoria’s sharpest sites. A steady exploration of what grapes can do when you let them speak for themselves.

Beechworth born and raised, he first cut his teeth under Barry Morey at Sorrenberg before stretching out across the Mornington Peninsula and into Burgundy (five vintages deep with Benjamin Leroux). And it shows. Chardonnay might be his calling card, but the same sensitivity runs through the whole range.
The wines zero in on site, drawing out the nuances of each vineyard—Macedon, Tumbarumba, Beechworth, Yarra Valley, Alpine Valleys—rather than bending them to fit a fixed idea of style. Thoughtful, restrained winemaking with tension, texture, clarity. Letting things land where they should.
