Passofonduto

Passofonduto

We try our fair share of wines at Sometimes Always tasting bench. So when we find one that makes us sit up and swoon, we’re gonna jump on our soap box and shout about it. Sure, Etna’s volcanic soils get all the attention, but if you take a bumpy two-hour drive down the road, you’ll hit Agrigento, a farming region nestled amongst Sicily’s quieter coastline. Here, you’ll find Giuseppe Cipolla tending to his organic vines.

He comes from a long line of farmers, growing everything from staple crops and olives to fruits and legumes. Now, most of his land is covered in vines. Deep salt mines run beneath the vineyards, and all throughout the region, bringing a rich mineral backbone and incredible depth to his wines.

Passofonduto is a one man show headed by Giuseppe. He alone tends to his organic vines, harvests grapes, builds new terraces and carefully watches over his small batch cuvées.
A balancing act that yields precision, concentration and personality. Capturing all the coastal freshness and a wildness from the rugged terrain.

Nero d'Avola and Nerello Mascalese for reds, and Grillo, Catarratto, and Zibibbo for whites. Wines defined by power, character and concentration. Wild and special, they’ll take you by surprise.
Wild and special, these are wines that'll take you by surprise.
