natural wine isn’t a rebellion
Unlike many generational winemakers, Maxime-Francois Laurent’s passion for natural wines isn’t a rebellion from the traditional or high volume techniques of the former generation. Instead, the natural principles applied by his parents in the vineyard and winery fortified his values, much to our drinking pleasure.
Vintage One of Domaine Gramenon was bottled by the hands of Michele and Philippe Laurent in 1990, with Philippe more or less leading the brigade as a budding vigneron with a promising future.
Yet his sudden death in 1999 changed the course of the family’s future. As a newly single mum to three young kids suddenly responsible for a growing wine operation, Michele became the head of the estate.

In a beautiful twist of fate, it just so happens that this resilient woman was a natural - pardon the pun. As she honed her skill, Michele’s wines became the thing.
Today, Michele and Maxime work closely together to produce their cult status natural wines from 26 hectares of lovingly-tended vines.
Based in the town of Montbrison Sur-Lez in the north of the Southern Rhone, the Laurents not only make wine by but live by organic and biodynamic farming principles, growing their own food and animals in a holistic mini ecosystem.
