Yarra Valley Cabernet blends are a very good thing, in this case a Bordeaux-esque Cabernet Sauvignon 66%, Cabernet Franc 11%, Merlot 10%, Petit Verdot 9%, Malbec 4%. Gone are the overly herbaceous wines of yore and in their place are beautifully detailed, purely fruited wines of distinction. Case & point here - A gorgeous blackberry and blue-toned fruit base with hints of cigar-box, Christmas cake spice, violets, olive tapenade and oak-derived complexity. Seamless tannins and balance…. It is singing.
