Hawkes Bay is winemaker Michael Corbett’s home turf, Syrah from organic certified and in-conversion vineyards, 5 weeks on skins and gentle pigeage, shipped to Vanguardist’s Barossa winery. There it spent 12 months in Slavonian oak and wow what a feat. Pepper, blueberry and blackberry alongside lavender and herbs. Interesting perfumes and so much spice. Energetic stuff.
