A light and bright red from a must-watch winemaker, Sven Joschke has been closely monitoring the masters, taking notes from the likes of Peter Schell at Spinifex, while exploring making wine in Jura. Oooff. Garnet colour, perfumed with rosehip, cherry, spice and earth. Attention-grabbing tartness, and layers of interest.
It must have been a momentous epiphany that saw Sven Joschke give up his 15 year long career as a chartered accountant and return to South Australia to become a winemaker. Accountants aren’t particularly known for their risk-taking (well, most anyway) but Sven’s has sure paid off. Not only are the wines impressive on a consumer level, but they’ve also attracted the attention of the industry’s top critics, lauding him as one of South Australia’s most exciting emerging winemakers.
Having worked alongside the likes of Peter Schell (Spinifex), Jason Schwarz (Schwarz Wine Co.) and in the French wild wine region of Jura, you can tell he has absorbed any passed down knowledge like a sponge, but added his own unique, profound footprint.
It’s no surprise that Sven’s wines are in high demand, so we’re very lucky to have the whole range available at Sometime Always. Even if you haven’t tried Sven’s wines before (he doesn’t have a Cellar Door) take our word for it – these are wines that you absolutely would buy, if you could try.
