Claus is spearheading a new wave of great young Austrian producers with a non-apologetic, genuine and credible approach. Indigenous varietals take starring roles in his production and his examples are bright, pure and instinctual, and none more so than the 2019 Kalkundkiesel. Hailing from Austria’s promised land Burgenland, this drop is a super zippy lemon crusher - extremely lively and deliciously tart. Beware. This is an incredibly dangerous drop to keep in the bottle.
