Adelaide wine cognoscenti Sharon Romeo’s contribution to SA’s hospitality industry spans a decadent 30 years and is not only an industry legend and foremother but a friend of the Sometimes Always team. Sharon is the co-owner of Barossa born giants FINO Seppeltsfield and her most recent venture and urban mecca, FINO VINO.
Her roles at FINO are many: she is an owner-operator, the front of house manager, maître d’, wine director and a co-owner, driving the brand’s ethos on the importance of being able to both see and understand the need for exceptional service from the top down.
Picking up some of the country’s top accolades in Restaurant Manager of The Year and multiple Maitre d’Manager of the year awards, Sharon is an obvious choice to create a Mixed Pack for Sometimes Always of some of her favourite wines from near and far. To mark the special occasion, we also welcome our first Sherry to the website – a drop that has come highly recommended from SA’s fortified royal family, Seppeltsfield. Sharon has also kindly given us insight in why she chose these particular wines and some of the stories of where and how she discovered them.

Chateau Thivin - Côte de Brouilly 'Les Sept Vignes' Gamay 2019 Cobaw Ridge - Chardonnay 2018 Toro Albala - Eléctrico Fino En Rama Bombilla NV Daniel Bouland - Morgon Corcelette 2019 Edenflo - Lemon Krush Semillon 2020 François Chidaine - le Chenin d'Ailleurs Chenin Blanc 2018
“This Cru Beaujolais is from 7 plots within the very special Côte de Brouilly and is so close to my heart. I have been buying this wine for over 15 years and is definitely the wine that says the most about me. Allured by fragrant peonies and silky plums with just a touch of spice, this wine is bright and has a silky tannic finish. This wine seriously never disappoints. Ever.”
Daniel Bouland - Morgon Corcelette 2019
“One of my favourite Cru Beaujolais, with rose petals, fresh blueberries and plums. Seductive and beautifully balanced by the silky tannins, granite soils and juicy fruit. Love love love.”
Edenflo > Lemon Krush Semillon 2020
“Andrew Wardlaw is a passionate vigneron making small batch wines with minimal intervention from Eden Valley. He also loves wearing Adidas! Hanging out with Andrew is heaps of fun and his Lemon Krush is even funner – complex and intriguing (a lot like Andrew). Everything is in check with this wine – love the texture and the citrusy lemon crush.”
Cobaw Ridge - Chardonnay 2018
“Grown 610 metres above sea level in Macedon Ranges, this lean style is flinty with crisp green apples, subtle oak characters and fine acidity. Ticks all the boxes for me, I feel like a grown up.”
François Chidaine - le Chenin d'Ailleurs Chenin Blanc 2018
“I’ve been a fan of this producer for over 15 years. This wine tastes of its provenance from the Southern Loire Valley with its chalky texture and purity. So fresh! An all-star Chenin.”
Toro Albala - Eléctrico Fino En Rama Bombilla NV
“This stunning Fino sherry hits the spot every single time (without fail) and is hands down my favourite Fino. Mouth watering freshness bursting with citrus tang and a briny finish always makes me want more and is by far the coolest bottle of sherry I’ve seen in a very long time.”
